CD Cover- Spine Sketching Progress- 07/12/2016

In today's lesson I began to start sketching my spines for the CD cover, so that me and my team can bring together our ideas and use different elements from each other's sketches. I added the smoke in the spine to represent how the 'paigons' deserve to have consequences for the betrayal they have done. In order to fit into the theme of our music video, the smoke represents the fact that he is trying to remove them from his life and smoke make things less visible hence the smoke rising into the word paigon. The 'paigon' ois in a way being hidden from the actor and is no longer apart of his life.

CD Production Pitch - 6/12/16

This is our CD production pitch to our class whereby we explain what ideas we are using for our CD and magazine advert and where our inspiration came from...

Front CD Cover- Final Mock Up Plan

After evaluating all my planning for the CD cover layout ideas for my own personal design, I decided to base it on J Hus, the 15th day, and continue with the wall effect. However, in order to add my own originality to the idea, I only put the wall on half of the CD cover and to flip the main cover star to the other side of the cover. The text which I used on the cover design plan is going to be changed so that it fits in more with the genre of our music and will be more appealing to the target audience. In order to keep the theme of the mask betraying the artist, I decided to add an image of the mask with the opacity lowered in order to not distract attention away from artist as well as being visible so that the audience understand what is going on. I think that it is important to make the CD cover match the overall message of the music video so that the audience can easily understand what is going on which may lead them to buying the mix tape.

The use of the parental advisory content informs the audience that there Is stron language involved in the song and therefore, parents are advised to give permission for the child to buy the mix tape if they are under a certain age group. It also adds a sense of professionalism to the CD because it shows that we have thought further about what things are included on a CD and had to knowledge to realise that some of the language used was not suitable for those of younger age groups.

Costume For Artist

The costume that I am planning to use for the artist is a tracksuit which is similar to the one which he wore in our music video. The chosen attire of a tracksuit makes it more appealing to our target audience because this what majority of those who listen to our genre of music wear on a daily basis. Also, as the artist wore a tracksuit in the music video, it wouldn't make sense if he changed into a suit for the CD cover and it will make the whole storyline to the music video more confusing and difficult for the audience to understand. As a prop, I was planning for my cover star to wear glasses which look designer and classy, to show that he is wealthy and to represent how he feels confident on what he is doing and the music he is producing. Body language is important in the cover star because it displays a message to the audience. Therefore, I want the body language of the cover star to represent a certain attitude which would make it more effective on the audience.

Location Of Shoot

For the photoshoot for this CD front cover, I am planning to use the photography studio at Leyton Sixth Form College. I think that the lighting contrast will be much easier to control as there is professional equipment available for me to use and the black backdrop will compliment the house style of our CD cover. The lighting ratio that I want to use is a 2;1 flowing from right to left so that the light is going in the direction where the name of the CD is situated. Whilst doing case study research on CD covers, I noticed that a lot of the CD covers try to make the name stand out on the cover so that the audience will notice it, whether that was the lighting setup or the size and type of font which was used.

CD Cover Sketches- Progress

In today's lesson, I started on my first CD cover sketch which was entirely based on one of my case studies called The 13th Day. I liked the way the wall was taking up half of the cover and then the text was blended in with the wall in order to fit in with the colour scheme. As this is only a draft i didnt go into too much research into finding the right text and font to fit in with the cover, however i just produced a rough sketch of how we would layout the cover and which images would be included.

If we go ahead with this type of CD cover, we will research more into a text which would fit the genre and theme of our video even more in order to create a better effect with our target audience.

Music Magazine Adverts- Ideas- 29/11/2016

In today's lesson I looked for music magazine adverts to look into and then analyse. i wanted to look especially for grime artists so that it went with our music genre and therefore we can use the ideas for our own advert. This was one of the adverts i found for my genre and I am still looking for 2 other music adverts to analyse too.

Team Meeting- Ideas for print products- 28/11/2016

In today's lesson we discussed as a team what ideas we are going to use for our advertisements. It was very hard to find ideas for print outs online as there was only a few in our genre of music and therefore we had to look at handheld prints to compare our ideas to. We found a couple ideas which we believe we can take elements from each one and then overall create a whole new advertisement idea for our CD.

Finished Music Video - Paigon

We have successfully, filmed, edited and completed our music video. We received feedback from our classmates and teachers (Vanessa and Amy) and they all said that the changes made were much more effective and engaging for the audience. The changes really made a difference to us as editors, since it gave us the necessary skills and mindset to successfully edit videos to perfection, professionally and without fail in the future.

We uploaded our video to Vimeo since YouTube has huge copyright issues. The final cut of our video had been embedded below.

Final Cut Editing + Tweaks - 26t/11/16

Today me and Ash added the finishing touches to the final cut of our music video. We decided on a final title and agreed on "Paigon" as the title.  We made some last minute additions, one of them was to merge the clip of Ash and one of our actors (Maj) whilst on the phone at the same time to make it seem as though they are communicating (screenshot below):   Image

We put this together last minute since it made more sense, since the audience would constantly ask: "who are you on the phone to?" Which Ash and me decided to add this scene since it made more sense, even though most of the video is performance based. Therefore we placed one of the clips on top of the other and changed the levels of opacity to show them both simultaneously on screen.

We used the same technique for one of the new clips we filmed of me wearing a cap. We used this since, the repetition of clips which had no effects whatsoever would be boring for the audience and they would be likely to lose interest in the video. So we used the effect of placing a clip over another and changing the levels of opacity to show both clips on screen simultaneously.   Image
We done the same with this clip to keep the audience engaged with the video. We used this technique to blend together three clips together simultaneously. We showed this to our teacher, Amy. She and other students we showed it to said it was very effective and professional in terms of the style/genre of the music video.  We successfully completed our music video on time, and we uploaded to Vimeo, since YouTube had huge copyright issues and would instantly mute the video.  We now are currently completing our case studies in preparation for the production of our music videos' CD Digipack.
